Folk Art Festival Budapest

On 20 August, the feast of St. Stephen of Hungary opens with a parade of artisans, the Festival of Popular Arts. The artisans who will participate and exhibit their works will come from all over the country and are the heirs of ancient traditions, such as woodcarving, performing musical instruments, ceramics, and embroidery and so on. The most inspired artistically inclined and brave visitors may try to learn a few of these techniques themselves. Teachers will help them try to make a chair, a wooden sculpture or a beautiful embroidered cloth…. The renaissance is the historical period that will be the leitmotif of the festival this year.

Any festival of this type is sure to include two essential components of popular culture: dance and music. International folk artists and groups will perform. And of course, the Hungarian exquisite cuisine will play an important role; get ready for goulash, Dobos cake, Kurtas Kalács … and an eye-opening Palinka to digest everything. Among the many events planned, there will be also be events for children, like special concerts for children, puppet shows like The Wings of King Matthias and other amusements.

The festival is a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourselves in the various aspects of Hungarian culture. Consult the website of the event http://www.budapest-tourist-guide.com/festival-of-folk-arts.html, rent apartments in Budapest, and prepare for an original weekend!
