These are hydrothermal caves, with many unexpected passages and beautiful natural formations. Unfortunately only four out of 200 caves can be visited, or rather are open to the public. Some of the caves in the entire territory of Hungary have well appointed stairs, ladders, and others remained in their natural state and open to the public, ideal for those who are not afraid to wet, climb and grow in the special environment. Pálvölgyi, the cave is located in the Buda hills, at the basement of the country. The cave is one of the most interesting caves and has a stalactite room with magical figures which are similar in form to the Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Since 1944, the cave is among the list of Hungarys natural reserves.

The cave is known for its drips, but much more interesting are the high-ceilinged corridors, significant differences between levels, and how mineral waters have shaped the rock into unusual shapes. The newly built 500 m long hiking trail promises many surprises: it leads us into a magical world where unusual rock formations have remained unchanged for thousands of years, the solidified state.

There are organized tours every hour, which lasts 50 minutes and runs 500 meters from the cave, through ladders and steep stairs, so not recommended for people with physical problems or children under 5 years. The tour organizers will supply coveralls, helmets, and headlights. You should definitely be dressed warmly because the temperature in the cave is 11 degrees Celsius throughout the year. For this cave, no experience in caving is required as such, but a good physic condition is necessary. You should also be good to walk – the path has some difficult (stair) sections. The guides are
